Applying to the SBPS Teacher Preparation Program
Stanley BPS is seeking intern candidates to participate in our Teacher Preparation Program in the fields of Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education.

Stanley BPS is both a K-8 school and a teacher preparation center. Each year approximately 45 teacher interns participate in the Stanley BPS Teacher Preparation Program. Intern teachers work full time in the classroom alongside mentor teachers as an apprentice.

Interns gain an understanding of experience-based, developmentally appropriate education. They take on steadily increasing responsibilities as their skills and confidence grow. Intern teachers start the year working with small groups of children and end the year capable of managing the entire class.

With ongoing feedback and support from their mentor teachers and educational advisors, interns participate in all aspects of the teaching process. They learn to differentiate instruction for individual students, and share in celebrating diversity within the classroom.

TEACHER LICENSURE: COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
The Stanley BPS Teacher Preparation Program, in conjunction with the Colorado Department of Education, offers an option of either a Colorado Early Childhood Education Initial License or a Colorado Elementary Education Initial License. Interns enrolled in the licensure program receive credit for working full time in the classroom. In addition, interns take 225 clock hours of coursework on Thursday afternoons throughout the school year.

MASTER'S DEGREE OPTION: UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO DENVER
Interns also have the option of receiving graduate credit hours for their work in the classroom and the coursework seminars. After acceptance into the program, interns may enroll in a master's degree program, which is offered through our partnership with the University of Colorado Denver. Interns may apply for either the Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education or Master of Arts in Educational Psychology.

PAYMENT/EXPENSES
Interns are paid a stipend and may receive some benefits. Financial Aid is
available to Stanley BPS employees. Please call Gina Bernacchi at 303-360-0803, ext. 183 for details.
